Registration to the OHJA Young Riders Program is necessary to receive full information regarding Selection.  This will facilitate communications between the Selection Committee and candidates. 

Candidates should register early as the Selection Committee will be observing performances during the Winter Circuits as well as spring and summer shows up to Sunday July 1, 2012.

Results being used by the Selection Committee for 2012 NAJYRC Selection begin as of August 2011. This includes competitions held in the Fall of 2011, the Royal Winter Fair, 2011/2012 Winter & Spring circuits as well as 2012 Summer circuits up to July 1, 2012. 

Candidates are encouraged to submit their results from August 2011 onwards for consideration by the Selection Committee.

Registered candidates will receive an armband which they will be requested to wear when competing on any of their Young Rider horses.

Candidates should be aware of all Competitor and Competition  requirements (available at www.ohja.ca).

Selection Committee

The following are the Selection Committee members for the 2012 NAJYRC.

General Information:

The Selection Committee will determine the Ontario Junior and Young Riders representatives at NAJYRC 2012 based upon the Committee`s observation of horse and rider combinations declared by candidates.

In 2012 there will not be any mandatory trials, thus candidate`s results are significant to their selection. 

Your results beginning August 1st 2011 (in classes that qualify you for your Young Riders Division - Junior 1.40m (4'7") with spreads between 1.40m and 1.70m //  Young Riders 1.50m (4'11") with spreads 1.50m and 1.80m, and open water.) and continuing through the Fall of 2011, the 2011/12 winter and spring circuits as well as 2012 Summer circuits up to July 1st 2012, will be considered by the 2012 NAJYRC selection committee.

NOTE:
In order to be considered as a representative for either the Junior or Young Rider Team, you must have consistently demonstrated capability, in competition, at the height and width of your division.  You also must show proficiency at the open water in competition.


Horse and Rider Championship combinations (for each team) will be named by July 1st, 2012.  Up to four (4) riders and a reserve will be named.  Any change to the named and reserve will be allowed only in consultation with the Selection Committee.

Jogs:
Riders will be asked to jog their horses for soundness at appropriate times during the selection process. All ``jogs`` will be announced in advance.  Both rider and horse should be properly presented for the jog.  NOTE: the Selection Committee reserves the right to eliminate from consideration any declared horse it believes will not successfully pass the NAJYRC veterinary inspection.

Armbands:
All registrants receive an armband for identification as either a Junior of Young rider candidate.  You should wear your armband in any classes of your choice when you are competing on your declared horse(s).

Winter Circuits and Tentative Show Schedules:

Please let us know when and where you are planning to show!!!!!!
For those who are showing at one of the Winter Circuits please send us details (faroutearl@gmail.com ): which shows, when, which horses, etc…

We also need your tentative show schedule for spring and early summer (until June 30, 2012).  This MUST be e-mailed to us by May 1, 2012.

Results and Summary of Results

It is important that you keep track of your results (including late 2011 if you chose) on any of your declared horses.

If you are attending a Winter Circuit please send us results (or divisions shown).  This should be e-mailed by May 1st.

You must submit a summary of your results (Aug 2012 – June 2012) for classes at, above or just below your intended level at NAJYRC.  This summary must be received by JUNE 17, 2012 by Cathy Roy at faroutearl@gmail.com

Be sure to include the following in your results:

  • Horse Show dates
  • Class name and specifications (heights)
  • Results and, or faults
  • Identify ALL classes in which water (note if open water) was jumped
